Meaning of Priene - Priene

The name of Priene is believed to have a pre-Greek origin when the Cretan islands, 'Praisos and Prianson" had relations with Priene.

Kingdom of Ahhiyava was thought to have been founded in Miletus region. In recent years, the theory gains weight that Priene was one the cities of the kingdom so that the name derives from that origin.
